Anchored Awards

A quality mark for educational settings

At Anchored Schools, we believe that excellent practice in the areas of Safeguarding, Behaviour, Attendance, SEND and PSHE are equally deserving of recognition as academic attainment. We want to be the cheerleaders for educational settings that demonstrate and evidence outstanding achievement in these areas and that is why we created Anchored Awards; a quality mark that celebrates settings that prioritise these vital aspects of education.

How do you qualify for Anchored Awards?

Any educational setting can attain an Anchored Award if they achieve 90% or more in any of our reviews. Excellence must be evidenced, which we assess as part of our process. You do not have to apply for the award, we will automatically award it if the level is reached.

The Awards

There are four levels of award and each one can be achieved individually in the areas of Safeguarding, Attendance, Behaviour, SEND and PSHE.

Anchored Bronze Award

Awarded for excellence in a specific area during an Anchored School Review. For example, outstanding practice when working with external agencies and services.

Anchored Silver Award

For settings who have demonstrated progress and areas of excellent practice during a follow up review in the same academic year.

Anchored Gold Award

For settings who have demonstrated excellent practice by gaining a score of 90%+ during an Extensive Review.

Anchored Platinum Award

For settings who have demonstrated excellent practice by gaining a score of 90%+ during an Enhanced Review.

Anchored MAT Award

A prestigious award for Multi- Academy Trust whose academies have all achieved either a Silver, Gold or Platinum Anchored Award within the same academic year.

What does best practice look like in terms of Anchored Awards?

Each review assesses settings against a comprehensive set of expectations. You can read more about our reviews in each area by clicking on the Safeguarding, Attendance, Behaviour, SEND, and PSHE pages. Some examples of excellent practice that have contributed towards achievement of an Anchored Award are as follows:

  • A Hull based AP was awarded a Bronze Anchored Award in safeguarding for their work around Early Help and Intervention

  • A Milton Keynes based Primary scored 92% on their Extensive Review, gaining an Anchored Gold Award for Behaviour

What an Anchored Award means to you as an educational setting

Achieving an Anchored Award is not easy; they recognise nothing short of excellence. We conduct a large number of reviews in a wide range of settings, of whom approximately 5% achieve an Anchored Award. This quality mark, therefore, recognises settings doing amazing things.

This prestigious quality mark demonstrates to all stakeholders that they are leaders in these areas and their dedication to their students. It provides a benchmark for progress, with many leaders actively working towards improving their award level on subsequent reviews. Plus, it can also offer a blueprint to other settings within trusts to improve their practices and learn from those that have achieved an award.

As well as receiving an attractive glass trophy each Anchored Award recipient is authorised to display the quality mark on their communications and celebrate their success. To recognise their achievement, we also share your good news with our extensive network of education settings by featuring recipients on our website and weekly newsletter, The Radar (with permission of course).

We want to recognise every setting that is doing amazing work in these vital areas of education and pastoral care. Contact us to find out more about our reviews and how you can be part of the Anchored Awards community.
