SEND Support
SEND Reviews
We are delighted that we are now able to support schools with SEND Reviews. Our SEND Reviews are carried out by Dr Dayo Okunlola (pictured here).
The review is an in-depth audit and review of SEND provision at the school to ensure that the school is not only meeting statutory obligations but also providing the best learning opportunities and outcomes for pupils with SEND.
A SEND Review Audit and Self Evaluation document will be sent in advance of the visit for completion by the SENCO and the school leadership team and then forwarded to the reviewer 4 – 5 days before arrival on-site. As with all our reviews, after the visit schools will receive a comprehensive written report. For more details enquire below.
DAYO’s PEN PORTRAIT
“I have been involved in education for over 40 years. After an initial period as a university lecturer, I have focused on secondary science teaching and Inclusion. I have worked at all levels of leadership over the past 20 years and honed my skills over many years in a deep understanding of all aspects of pupils with SEND and mental and health difficulties. In the 7 years prior to semi-retirement in September 2021, I was Executive Headteacher at the Southover Partnership - a school and outreach service which provides education for pupils whose needs cannot be met in mainstream, currently serving 12 local authorities.
My understanding of and passion for Attachment Theory and its application for learning, how child development impacts on children’s learning, both inside and outside the classroom has been fundamental to every aspect of both my teaching and leadership experience in schools. I have extensive knowledge and expertise in youth mental health, supporting and representing vulnerable families and have delivered CPD to SENDCos and schools in attachment and learning. I have also, at various points in my career represented schools on Barnet’s SE MAGS (Multi Agency Group) and MASE (risk of sexual exploitation panel) as well as the Barnet Troubled families Board.
I am skilled in supporting schools with developing and strengthening leadership at all levels especially around SEND and Inclusion, enabling them to evaluate themselves accurately against the education inspection framework and SEN code of practice. I can also provide high quality targeted INSET and training on supporting adolescent and youth mental health, attachment and learning, ASD, PDA, ADHD and other childhood developmental difficulties as well as providing Early Career Teacher training. I can provide support with, and carry out SEND and Inclusion audits."
